Balancing the books

Bagnall banged about a bit
but never made much money.
It’s not that he was lazy,
just too fond of milk and honey.

Bagnall’s milk was navy rum,
and dark Milesian wine;
his honey was the beldams
who worked the Circle Line.

Now that he is ninety-four,
he has no need for honey,
so he buys extra milk
with his erstwhile honey money.
